Scream Scenes in June - A Look at Upcoming Horror Releases

June might not be bursting at the seams with horror releases, but there are still a few creeping onto screens this month. The summer season tends to favour blockbusters over bloodbaths but horror fans aren’t entirely left in the cold. June 2025 offers slim pickings but there's still a handful of unsettling stories worth keeping an eye on, with survival horror, an anthology and the return of some old favourites on the cards. Here’s the pick of what’s haunting cinemas and streaming platforms this month.

Dangerous Animals

Free-spirited surfer Zephyr aims to escape her troubled past by taking time out on Australia's Gold Coast but her peaceful retreat turns into a nightmare when she's abducted by Tucker, a shark-obsessed serial killer who records his gruesome acts for his own twisted pleasure. Held captive on his boat, Zephyr realises she must outwit Tucker to survive and summon all her strength to confront the real monster before time runs out. Described as “A lean, nasty survival thriller with a twisted sense of humour.” by the The Jam Report, Dangerous Animals is a survival thriller delivering a tale of resilience and the primal fight for survival.

Hell Motel

Hell Motel - a crumbling roadside dive on the edge of nowhere, where the neon always flickers and the guests all have something to hide. Each episode of the series unlocks a new room and a new nightmare. From cursed videotapes and time loops to possessed bellhops and rooms that feed on grief, Hell Motel promises a one-way ticket to terror. Hell Motel blends black humour with nerve-shredding suspense. promising that this won't be your average overnight stay. Den of Geek calls it “Creepshow meets Inside No. 9 - but bloodier.” heralding a horror anthology that could breathe new life into the genre.

28 Years Later

Nearly thirty years after the Rage Virus, the world has moved on - or so it thinks. When a distress signal emanates from the ruins of London, a UN recon team is sent to investigate. This chapter of the franchise, written by Alex Garland, sees director Danny Boyle take the helm again and it looks like a barnstorming return for the iconic saga.
